Most people do this naked. Naked swimming is also common while just going for a swim at their summer-cottage. So the need for public naturist beaches is more limited than in other countries but it is increasing.

Finnish legislation does not ban nudity.

At present there are only two official naturist beaches.

• Pihlajasaari (Rönnskär), an island, is near the south coast of Helsinki. It is very easy accessible by a scheduled boat from Merisatama.
• The other one is in Yyteri, ten km west of Pori (Björneborg).

Helsinki also has one place for naked swimming with separate areas for men and women. This is located in Seurasaari (Fölisön), which is served by public transport bus number 24.
